Current Situation - the Challenge
As an Ontarian, have you ever been frustrated while booking your vaccination appointments but didn’t know which health authority to go for? Over 100 booking systems are scattered all over the place: the neighborhood, municipal, regional and provincial governments…each has its own booking system. Do you still remember the time when you were asking around to figure out where to reserve a vaccine shot for yourself, and how time-consuming it was when COVID just hit in, ?Of course, if you are particularly good at information searching, the above issue may not be a bother for you. But how was your booking experience in general? Probably not so good, especially when it comes to modifying a vaccination appointment. How many times do you have to pause the process and leave your desks to get your health card or open your email to look for the confirmation code…the list goes on and on.
Problem
The vaccination booking experience has been challenging for many Ontarians due to:Fragmented Reservation Platforms
From provincial to municipal, each public authority offers their own booking systems that overwhelms citizens and causes overlapped reservations being made.
A Lack of Usability
Currently, reserving a vaccination appointment can only be done on website where users need to enter excessive information in order to get their appointment. If the user hopes to reschedule or cancel the appointment, they have to login to a separate portal than the one they used to book their vaccination.
Solution
There should be an integrated booking system that offers Ontarians “one-stop” services: you can simply book and manage your COVID vaccination appointments on the same platform with only a few clicks. No more time wasted on filling out eligibility questionnaires, and more importantly, you no longer need to get the health card ready before making changes to your appointments.Design Process
Define: User Flow
During the design process, we further revised our user goals down to 3 mostly needed ones as our user research reveals the rest 2 goals were hardly conducted or even noticed by target.User Goal 1: Book a new vaccination appointment.
